ABOUT SINGAPORE
Singapore is a dynamic and modern city-state located in Southeast Asia that is renowned for its innovative private and public sectors, efficient transport systems, lush greenery, beautiful parks, and unique architecture.
Singapore has invested heavily in its leadership position within the South East Asian startup ecosystem over the past 10 years. The city state has also quickly become a global hub for stakeholders in the insects as food and feed space. Over the past 5 years, 15 insect companies have been incorporated in Singapore and US$70 million of publicly disclosed funding has been invested into Singapore-based insect companies between 2019 and 2022. The strength of the ecosystem was further bolstered when in 2023 the Singapore Food Agency drafted legislation on insect eating and production which has been lauded as among the most progressive and evidence-based approaches. Attendees at IFW will also see some of the modern research facilities that support the sector including the Marine Aquaculture Center (MAC) at St Johns Island, a short ferry ride from the main island.
For travellers attending the Insects to Feed the World conference, Singapore's modern infrastructure and efficient transportation systems make it an easy and convenient city to navigate. Additionally, the city's location in Southeast Asia provides ample opportunity for conference attendees to explore the region, including bastions of insect consumption such as Thailand.
